Caster Chronicles - Beautiful Creatures Review

Caster Chronicles - Beautiful Creatures #1

WOW I can't believe I just read a 563 page book in two days. I'm a little pooped (of course its 1am) tells you how good it is :) I was surprised when I started reading it that it was in a boys perspective. Never read a book like that before and I wasn't sure I could get into it. But they did it wonderfully. I was there, going through everything and the character had his soft side and the male perspective at the same time, really unique for me.

Ethan dreams of her, over and over again... until he sees her at school. Lena appears out of no where and in this small town she stands out like a sore thumb. No help from her outcast uncle. It wasn't the 'danger' of being with someone non popular that dragged Ethan to Lena - it was something totally different, dream like that pulled him to her.

Ethan and Lena get to know each other in a rain storm (she creates) and even though it doesn't start on good terms it blossoms and grows. Ethan discovers the truth of her family, the truth about his mom, Amma (basically his nanny) and how he's connected to Lena. There's a strong battle for good/evil with some strange characters in Lena's family. She has no choice on her sixteenth birthday or so she thinks...

GREAT story, in depth, tons of twists that are easy to follow, Teen ok - no gore, one ghost, more supernatural than anything. Really done in the eyes of a teenager :) It did leave me groveling for more at the end, I wanted to read a little more to get some answers but how else do they get you to read the next one, right?

Author Notes:
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

Beautiful Darkness #2 comes out Oct 2010 and they already have plans for #3 (2011) and #4 (2012) YEAH!
