haven't posted in awhile...

My bday was the 22nd, Mike worked late so we just hung out afterwards and had dinner. Nothing major - turned 33 yrs old. Had to remind my sister she's older and will be turning 38 in August and getting closer to 40 :)

I picked more books as my own bday present - I finished the first series I picked up - The Darkest Powers Series - The Summoning and The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong - great series.

Kids are thrown into a home and develop supernatural powers (werewolves, telekinesis, lazer zapping and more) - they go through finding out what they have, grow in their powers - several twists in the story as to who is involved for them having the powers and so on - kept me reading :)

No sexual content, no foul language that I can recall - its ok for Amber to read.

The Summoning
After years of frequent moves following her mother’s death, Chloe Saunders’s life is finally settling down. She is attending art school, pursuing her dreams of becoming a director, making friends, meeting boys. Her biggest concern is that she’s not developing as fast as her friends are. But when puberty does hit, it brings more than hormone surges. Chloe starts seeing ghosts–everywhere, demanding her attention. After she suffers a breakdown, her devoted aunt Lauren gets her into a highly recommended group home.

At first, Lyle House seems a pretty okay place, except for Chloe’s small problem of fearing she might be facing a lifetime of mental illness. But as she gradually gets to know the other kids at the home–charming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a “thing” for fire–Chloe begins to realize that there is something that binds them all together, and it isn’t your usual “problem kid” behaviour. And together they discover that Lyle House is not your usual group home either…

The Awakening
If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

I'm working on my next set of series - Sookie Stackhouse Novel - they made a series on HBO about it called True Blood. - so far its a little odd but we'll see how it goes.

-----------------------------------------

Amber had me go get her Thursday- she fell off her bike at a friends house and really danged up her knee. Its a miracle she has any skin left on it. She was fine all day, just rested and then Friday it boomed out like a melon and swelled??? No idea what happened but she had to stay off of it and it seems ok now. She was upset since we were going swimming at the hotel Sat and she didn't want to miss it - gotta love kids priorities lol!!

Saturday and Sunday we spent traveling around - Iowa to fix the house out there for the renters - we are still working on the sump pump not being hooked to the city line - the builder never connected it. Another thing to add to my list today - call city hall and talk to someone about it!! ughh that won't be fun...

But we did see a car for Mike on Sunday and its a keeper - a 1967 Rambler American - underneath isn't rusted but the inside needs works - not a bad little car for him. He needs something to have as a hobby and we haven't been able to get one for him in 2 years. This will keep him busy, at home and out of trouble :)

Did I mention he got a ticket on my bday? Yep - so that was my present this year a $75 fine lol.

We'll its been an eventful week. Hopefully this one will be just as much fun!!
